The Piazza Egizia project transforms the central courtyard of the Egyptian Museum into a large covered space designed to welcome visitors.
Our work started from a few simple questions: what will the experience be like under the new enclosure? Will it be a pleasant place to gather, talk, and wait?
The answers are not so simple. Comfort is subjective, and for this type of space there are no specific acoustic requirements capable of guiding the design process
For this reason, we focused not only on acoustic parameters, but also on the way the space will be perceived; through acoustic simulations we were able to let designers and stakeholders hear in advance how the environment will sound once completed.
Beyond data and equations.
Making it possible to perceive how the space will change.
In this way, acoustics becomes both a design and a communication tool: a technical discipline translated into an experience that can be understood even by those with no acoustic background, supporting design decisions based on what people will actually hear.
