The new Educational Campus in Castel Volturno will accommodate schools of different levels within a system of classrooms, laboratories, collaborative areas, and shared environments designed to support contemporary and flexible learning.
The project naturally addressed some of the key acoustic challenges associated with educational buildings, including reverberation control and the mitigation of building services noise. These aspects are essential to ensuring suitable conditions for speech intelligibility, concentration, and learning.
A facade does more than separate outside from inside.
It also separates inside from inside.
The most challenging aspect of the project, however, lies in the large curved glazed facades that define the architecture of the complex. Their role extends beyond separating indoor and outdoor environments: particular attention was paid to the way they connect with internal partitions and floor slabs.
For this reason, the acoustic design focused not only on the facade systems themselves, but also on the development of construction details at the interfaces between the building envelope and internal partitions. These junctions are critical to achieving the required acoustic insulation performance and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements once the building is completed.
