WHAT WE DID

Facade Acoustic Performance Engineering

For the new Venice Police Headquarters, we were involved in a highly specialised aspect of acoustic design: facade acoustic engineering. Our role was to verify that the proposed facade systems would achieve the required levels of sound insulation from external noise.

This was accomplished through numerical simulations developed from laboratory tests on representative facade mock-ups. In complex and highly customised systems, it is not possible to test every real configuration. Acoustic performance can, however, be accurately predicted during the design phase.

What cannot be seen can compromise what is heard.

For this reason, our work focused not only on glazing and facade systems, but also on construction details, joints, and installation methods. These elements are essential to preventing acoustic bridges and ensuring that the required performance is achieved once the building is completed.
